Football Australia today advised that midfielder Alex Chidiac has been ruled out of the June FIFA Window for medical reasons.
Chidiac was substituted out in the sixth minute of Racing Louisville FC’s NWSL match against Washington Spirit on June 18 following a collision that saw her sustain a broken nose and concussion.
To replace Chidiac in the CommBank Matildas 24-player squad, Hammarby midfielder Kyra Cooney-Cross will arrive at the assembly in Huelva on Wednesday, 22 June.
The A-League Women’s championship winner continued her recovery from injury last Friday night as she recorded her first minutes since April in Hammarby’s 2-1 loss to Häcken.
The majority of Australia’s squad have now arrived in southern Spain for preparations to face Spain at Estadio Nuevo Colombino.
Australia’s international friendlies against Spain and Portugal will be broadcast live on Network 10, 10 Play and Paramount+. Coverage for the CommBank Matildas v Spain will commence at 5.00 am AEST.
