At the age of seven, Doriane Pin asks her father, who is used to the tracks, to go karting. Only problem, it is too small. She must therefore wait until she is 9 years old to be able to ride in a kart. But the wait, even if painful, was worth it since love at first sight took place immediately: she wants to make motorsport her job. Adrenaline addict and circuit addict, the intrepid Doriane Pin has climbed many levels since then.
She was crowned French karting champion in 2019
“We did it as a family, we won together. » When Doriane Pine is crowned French karting champion in 2019, with a lead of more than ten seconds, it is towards her loved ones that her first thoughts are directed. While some competitors had a professional team by their side, she and her family handled everything on their own.
This year 2019 has not been easy for the young driver, faced with doubts and difficulties in finding sponsors. “In 2019, I could only do one race and you had to give everything otherwise it was over for me. I chose the French Championship because it’s the biggest competition I could do to try to win a title and be spotted.” traces the schoolgirl.
The previous year, she had won bronze on the same circuit. “I learned from my mistakes, I understood what I needed to win. […] I watched videos and when I came to it again in 2019, I was really, really focused. » The work eventually paid off.
She drove in Maranello
On the strength of her first place in the 2019 French Karting Championship, Doriane Pin is selected for the program “Girls on Track – Rising Stars” in 2020. Organized by the FIA, Girls on Track is a competitive model for the promotion and development of young women in motorsport. After her brilliant races, Doriane offers herself a place among the four drivers selected for training at the Ferrari Driver Academy. She goes to the final and even drives on the legendary Fiorano circuit in Maranello, holy land of Ferrari, and finishes in second place on the podium. The young motorsport prodigy passes tests on a Formula 4 and then meets Iron Dames, the team she will join in 2021 (or even elsewhere).
She signed her first professional contract at 17
At the start of 2021, the young driver from the Côte d’Azur signed her first professional contract with the Italian team Iron Dames. Based in Cesena in Italy, the team only fields female pilots and Doriane finds happiness there. Admittedly, the visibility is still low but the French karting champion insists on the fact that they deserve their place. “Autosport is one of the rare sports where we are mixed in competitions and we drive mixed. It’s a great way to show that we can all do it.”supports Doriane Pin.
She took her first win in the Ferrari Challenge Europe
The year 2022 marks a turning point in his racing career. In Portimão, Portugal, Doriane won the opening race of the Ferrari Challenge Europe. The competition consists of seven meetings over the year, each time with two races per weekend.
First in practice, the French driver also signed two poles, then won both races hands down. “It’s my fondest memory, it was magical to share that with my team, which is like my second family. We dominated all weekend, it was memorable,” she remembers. Next meeting of the Ferrari Challenge Europe? It will be at home on the Paul-Ricard circuit, next May 14.
She dreams of racing in Formula 1
Like most drivers, Doriane dreams of being among the top 20 drivers in the world and competing in the Formula 1 World Championship. “I have watched all the Grand Prix as a family since I was little, she confides. It’s impressive to see all the mechanics and the whole team behind it. It’s all that work that makes there a champion in the car. »
Before one day reaching the pinnacle of motorsport, the high school student knows that she will have to give her all. “Everything is a series of meetings and results. There are so many parameters that come into play before being at the top of the line. » The road will be long but who knows? The unfailing determination of the Iron Dames pilot could open a few doors for her.
