On the occasion of its last preparation match, Olympique Lyonnais was hooked by Inter Milan (2-2) this Saturday. Despite this draw, the Rhone club showed an interesting face before the start of the Ligue 1 season.
Castello Lukeba was good against Lukaku.
Great promises for Olympique Lyonnais. For its final preparation match, the Rhone club conceded a draw against Inter Milan (2-2) this Saturday.
But the image of the individual performances of Castello Lukeba, Lucas Paqueta, Tet or even Alexandre Lacazette, the Gones can draw a positive balance from this meeting against the reigning Italian vice-champion.
Lacazette scorer, Lyon deceived
From the first minutes, Lopes had to work hard by capturing a fine header from Lukaku. Despite this alert, Les Gones made an interesting start with rhythm and forward movement. On a cross from Tet, Lacazette found himself hooked by Dumfries in the area, but the referee did not flinch… Active, Tet was then close to opening the scoring with a missile, but Onana pulled out all the stops to put him in check !
Subsequently, the Milanese finally managed to react with a save from Lopes on a shot from Calhanoglu before a too-crossed header from Lukaku. Now in difficulty, OL were still close to corrections on a header from Dimarco that was too crossed… And yet, in the crowd, Les Gones opened the scoring with a cross from Paqueta headed in by Lacazette (0-1, 31′)! With intense duels and even clashes, Lyon did not back down and Gusto even found the post just before half-time…
Cherki scores, Inter reaction
On returning from the locker room, the match resumed at the same pace and after a shot from Aouar on the post, Cherki managed to make the break (0-2, 50th). In the crowd, after a first duel won by Lopes against Martinez, Inter revived the suspense with a cross header from Lukaku (1-2, 52nd). Domin, Lyon suffered but Lopes still stood out with two interventions against the Belgian then Martinez!
But forced to endure, Lyon cracked with a caviar from Martinez for Barella, who adjusted Lopes with a magnificent dive (2-2, 66th). In a late game cut short by the changes, Peter Bosz’s men were on the verge of regaining the advantage, but Onana diverted a header from Dembl on his bar! And finally, the score no longer changed after an intense game. See you for OL on Friday against AC Ajaccio in Ligue 1!
The score of the match: 7.5/10
A really fun game. With the start of the season approaching, this meeting had a real intensity with even hung duels between the two teams. With rhythm, the two teams went blow for blow by putting on a lively spectacle with chances and goals. Interesting, especially for the sequel.
The goals :
– Following a good collective movement, Paqueta is served by Lacazette on the right side. From a good center, the Brazilian found the Frenchman, who made a header to open the scoring (0-1, 31st).
– After a cross from Lacazette, Aouar, served at the far post, finds the post. The ball returns to Cherki who, with the help of the post, manages to break point blank (0-2, 50th).
– Despite a first duel won by Lopes against Martinez, Dimarco crosses into the box. While Tagliafico collapsed in the duel with Lukaku, the Belgian took the opportunity to shake the net with a crossed header (1-2, 52nd).
– Served on a counter, Martinez gets rid of Paqueta before making a magnificent through pass for Barella. Lucid, the Italian made a magnificent dive to adjust Lopes (2-2, 66th).
The NOTES of the Lyonnais
Maxifoot awarded a score (out of 10) for each OL player.
Man of the match: Alexandre Lacazette (7/10)
The captain of Olympique Lyonnais already seems to be in the right rhythm. Effective in the game thanks to his combinations, the French international should have obtained a penalty for a foul from Dumfries, but the referee did not flinch. Subsequently, the striker was rewarded for his efforts with a diving header on a cross from Paqueta to open the scoring. In form, he was also involved in the action of Cherki’s goal. Tired, he was replaced in the 80th minute by Bradley Barcola (not).
Anthony Lopes (6.5) : a serious match for the goalkeeper of Olympique Lyonnais. Immediately attentive to a header from Lukaku, the Portuguese international exuded real serenity in his interventions. Still present on a strike from Calhanoglu, the goalkeeper was solid on the attempts of Inter Milan in the first period. Decisive on the return from the locker room in front of Martinez, he could not do anything on Lukaku’s head. Subsequently, the Lusitano was again decisive against the Belgian and the Argentinian before losing to Barella.
Malo Gusto (6) : a good performance for the right side of Olympique Lyonnais. Despite an oversight on a chance from Di Marco, the young talent did his job defensively in the first period. And above all, the Gone was particularly efficient in its climbs with sharp strokes. Before half-time he even came close to scoring, but found the post. His second act, however, was less successful.
Thiago Mendes (4.5) : still aligned in central defense, the usual midfielder showed shortcomings. On several occasions, his placement was really approximate and allowed Inter Milan to create danger. In some duels, the Brazilian was even a little too tender in the face of Lukaku’s physical intensity and in his marking in front of Martinez…
Castello Lukeba (7) : despite a major athletic duel with Lukaku, the central defender of Olympique Lyonnais has confirmed his talent. Despite the chances conceded by his team, the young talent recovered many balls and regularly won against the Belgian international. Confirmation season begins on a positive note.
Nicholas Tagliafico (4.5) : for his first steps with Olympique Lyonnais, the left-back made a mixed start. Even less present than Gusto on the offensive level, the Argentinian was up to the task defensively at the start of the game. Like his rescue in front of D’Ambrosio, the former Ajax Amsterdam player was important in his own area in the first period. But after the break, he lost a contentious duel on Lukaku’s goal and was especially very late on Barella’s achievement. For his defense, the Lyonnais seemed a bit short physically. Replace the 70th minute with Henrique (not).
John Lepenant (5) : lined up due to absences in the midfield, the Olympique Lyonnais midfielder has shown promise. Because despite the waste in his transmissions, the former Caennais has assumed his responsibilities by often claiming the ball. Even in the impact, he did not die by fighting for all the balls … despite an empty passage in the second period.
Houssem Aouar (5.5) : despite an uncertain future, the midfielder was a good starter due to withdrawals from Tolisso and Caqueret. Involved in his defensive work, the French international had a decent match. Without necessarily influencing the attacking game of his team except for a shot on the post, the Lyonnais was fair in his passes and took part in a good game for his team.
Lucas Paqueta (6.5) : the attacking midfielder recalled what he could bring Olympique Lyonnais. Sharp in his forward runs, the Brazilian combined a lot with Gusto and Tet to make the difference on the right side. Always precise on a technical level, the former Milanese delivered the decisive pass when Lacazette opened the scoring with a nice cross. On the other hand, he was too easily eliminated by Martinez on the achievement of Barella. Replace 76th minute with Moussa Dembl (not not)who found the bar on a head hijacked by Onana.
Tets (7) : the Olympique Lyonnais winger had fire in his legs! Immediately in the right tempo, the Brazilian made Inter Milan go through hell on his side. Involved in all the good shots, he first forced Onana a nice parry on a real missile. Author of the cross on the penalty forgotten on Lacazette, the talent of Les Gones made many differences, in particular being the origin of the opener. Replace the 45th minute with Rayan Cherki (6.5), who made an interesting entry. Immediate scorer taking advantage of a shot from Aouar on the post, the young talent from OL created some differences, despite some inaccuracies in the last gesture.
Alexandre Lacazette (7) : read the comment above.
Karl Toko-Ekambi (4.5) : Unlike his attacking partners, the Cameroonian international did not score points in this game. However, at the start of the match, the Olympique Lyonnais winger made some interesting combinations. But annoyed by the faults of his opponents, he lost the thread of the match with nervousness and technical waste. Replace the 80th minute with Tino Kadewere (not not).
