Helsea, Arsenal and Tottenham remain some of the most active clubs in the market this summer. While all three London giants have been busy, more business is expected between now and the end of the window across the capital.
Chelsea, for example, are ready to turn their attentions elsewhere now Jules Kounde is close to Barcelona. Thomas Tuchel has been rather frank in his assessment that the club need to strengthen quickly after a fairly miserable time of things on tour in the US.
Tottenham, meanwhile, are ready to launch a big-money bid for Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo as Antonio Conte continues to push those above him for further additions. Over at Arsenal, Arthur Melo is believed to be a target once more while the Youri Tielemans saga drags on. Frenkie De Jong open to join Chelsea
Look away, Manchester United fans!
Part of the reason Frenkie De Jong is yet to join Erik Ten Hag at Old Trafford is believed to be his love of playing for Barcelona, as well as (though much less romantic) the money owed to him.
While not exactly ideal, it’s a reasonable position to accept.
So, reports from Spanish outlet Sport will be a concern.
They claim the Dutch international is willing to move to Chelsea. Now, it’s up to them to pay the money both he and Barca are looking for.
Nicolas Pepe sends message about Arsenal future
Nicolas Pepe is determined to make a success of his Arsenal career.
The club’s record signing, Pepe has scored only 21 times in 112 games since a £72m move to north London from Lille in the summer of 2019.
With Gabriel Jesus, Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira having arrived over the course of this summer, competition for places has only increased and the 27-year-old is one of a number of players the club are considering selling.

Gianluca Scamacca in West Ham medical
Gianluca Scamacca is undergoing a medical before completing his £30.5million move to West Ham.

Defoe, 39, had a brief spell on Rangers’ coaching staff after Steven Gerrard left the club last year and retired in March during his second spell at Sunderland.

Chelsea consider Denzel Dumfries raid
Chelsea are switching focus to Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries after frustration in their bid to sign Sevilla’s Jules Kounde, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
The Blues’ bid fell slightly short of Kounde’s asking price and they are reluctant to go further for the 23-year-old who Thomas Tuchel was initially unsure about.
Barcelona have now taken over as favorites to win the France international’s signature, with an approach that mirrors the hijacking of Chelsea’s bid for Raphinha, but they currently also remain short of the asking price.

Barcelona make offer to Frenkie De Jong to leave
Barcelona have made little secret of their desire to see Frenkie De Jong leave the club.
Indeed, a fee has been agreed with Manchester United over a potential move for the Dutchman, who does not seem in much of a rush to move.
Part of the reason is believed to be because of the wages Barca owe hm and the Independent say an offer has now been made.
The Catalan club are thought to be offered to pay the midfielder part of his deferred salary, although that is reportedly £10m short of the real amount.
Cristiano Ronaldo latest
Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Manchester might look like a positive thing on the face of it.
While not too much can be taken from preseason friendlies, United have looked impressive during the early days of the Erik Ten Hag era and welcoming back last season’s top scorer should be another boost.
Still, according to The Sun, the 37-year-old is merely returning to tell the United boss he wants to leave now.
Finding a club willing to pay his wages, however, may prove difficult.
Tottenham desperate for Nicolo Zaniolo
Richarlison has already arrived at Tottenham to add further options to an attack already boasting Harry Kane, Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski.
Still, Antonio Conte is believed to be keen on another forward this summer, as the Italian continues to push Spurs’ owners for more.
According to Calciomercatoweb, Conte is desperate to bring Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo to north London this summer and plans to beat Juventus to his signature “at all costs”.
