A Sacramento man and a 17-year-old boy have been apprehended in connection to recent robberies targeting United States Postal Service (USPS) workers in Palo Alto and Belmont. Both incidents involved USPS carriers as victims, according to the Palo Alto Police Department.
The initial robbery occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday in Belmont, on the 700 block of Old Country Road. Belmont Police reported that two suspects, operating a black Infiniti with a stolen license plate, assaulted a mail carrier without the use of a weapon, forcibly throwing the victim to the ground.
Shortly after, at 2:18 p.m., Palo Alto Police received a tip about two suspicious individuals loitering on the 800 block of Ilima Court. Upon being noticed by a witness, the suspects fled in a black Infiniti matching the description provided by Belmont Police. Within minutes, additional reports came in, indicating another mail carrier robbery on the same block.
Palo Alto Police officers located the suspect vehicle traveling northbound on El Camino Real near Matadero Avenue. Attempting to intercept the vehicle, officers initiated a pursuit, which concluded when the suspects crashed the Infiniti into a tree within a private parking lot on the 3100 block of Hansen Way. Both suspects were apprehended after attempting to flee the scene.
The suspects have been identified as Trevionne Lamar Williams, 19, of Sacramento, and an unnamed juvenile. Williams faces charges including assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse (one victim was elderly), vehicle theft, and resisting arrest. He was found to be out on bail from Sacramento County after being previously arrested for firearm-related offenses.
