Fans of NASCAR in Southern California may have to wait longer for the return of the popular auto-racing organization to the region, according to recent reports. The Auto Club Speedway, situated just outside Fontana in unincorporated San Bernardino County, last hosted a NASCAR Cup Series race in February 2023. However, plans for its renovation into a short track have left the future of NASCAR racing in Southern California uncertain.
Despite previous intentions to construct the short track, updates on the project have been scarce, prompting doubts about the timeline for its completion.
According to sources, NASCAR is unlikely to return to Southern California in 2025 due to ongoing uncertainties surrounding the construction and development of racing facilities in the region. While successful events like the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum have provided alternative racing experiences in the area, the expiration of contracts and logistical challenges have hindered immediate plans for NASCAR’s return to Southern California.
